Our children’s and youth programming is the heartbeat of our church. Our youngest siblings in Christ matter!
Nursery
Every Sunday we provide a staffed Nursery for children under age 3. Sofi, our wonderful nursery attendant, is also available to support parents and our Sunday School Teacher. Activity bags and a small play area are also provided in the sanctuary for the children to play with during the service—the sounds of children are welcome in our worship!
Historically, we have held a program for children ages three through second grade called Children Worship and Wonder. This program provides an opportunity for children to nurture their spiritual life through play, wonder, and stories. Currently, we have a large group of elementary students and several infants— so Worship and Wonder is on pause until the babies get a little bigger!
Young Disciples Class
We think it is really important that children and adults worship alongside each other. But we also believe that our young people deserve to have their faith lives tended in a safe, caring, developmentally appropriate, and fun environment. To that end, we offer Young Disciples Class for our elementary and middle school students, with each group meeting twice a month. Our Sunday School Teacher, Eveny, has previously taught in elementary school classrooms, and is currently adapting a scripture study from Sparkhouse.
The Elementary School Class meets on first and third Sundays. The Middle School Class meets on second and fourth Sundays. More information on the class schedule and other events for children and youth can be found on the Youth Schedule in the Members section of our site.
Youth Leadership
On fifth Sundays and other special Sundays throughout the year, our children lead us in worship by reading scripture, offering prayers and meditations, and sharing their musical gifts. Pastor Ellie is still holding out hope that one of these days, the youth will be up for preaching. Favorite Sundays led by the kids include Blessing of the Backpacks Sunday, Pageant Sunday, and our annual costumed Halloween/All Saints’ Sunday. We are always seeking to listen to more young voices as we discern God’s call for our church.
